Where the numbers appear in your chart

  • Mulank: your day of birth, the number of your everyday self
  • Bhagyank: your whole date of birth, the number of your life path
  • Name number: your name, the number of your public self
  • Lo Shu grid: which of the nine digits you have, and which are missing

Friendly and unfriendly numbers

Numbers relate through their planets. In general: 1, 2, 3 and 9 form one friendly group (Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Mars); 4, 5, 6 and 8 form another (Rahu, Mercury, Venus, Saturn). Number 5 is the most adaptable. Number 7 tends to sit with the second group. Different schools vary on the details.

Beyond 9: master numbers and zero

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are read before being reduced. See master numbers in numerology. Zero has no place in the Lo Shu grid but amplifies numbers it sits next to in mobile and vehicle numbers.
